Offering a rich treasure trove of history, the museums in our region should definitely be on your to-do list.

As soon as you enter the museum building, you’ll be met with a burst of colour. The Art and History Museum displays art from the 16th century to the present day, and the history of Cholet starting from the Gallo-Roman era, with a large part of the museum dedicated to the Vendée Wars.

While the Textile and Fashion Museum takes you through the history of the industry and highlights the weavers’ working conditions. You can also find out more about the history of the town’s emblematic red and white handkerchief at the museum. The museum is the last place where the Cholet red handkerchief was woven.

Just 15 minutes from Cholet, another museum is waiting to welcome you with an equally iconic theme – the Footwear Trades Museum. Shoemaking, clogmaking and manufacturing – walking in the footsteps of giants in this still active industry.
